Digital Solutions Program

The COVID-19 pandemic has spurred the use of digital solutions for mental health worldwide. Mobile applications and telehealth have proven effective in the prevention and treatment of common mental health conditions, delivering techniques adapted from various therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy. In addition, mobile health devices strengthen communication between healthcare professionals and patients, fostering greater engagement and improved adherence to treatment. Nonetheless, further studies and rigorous evaluation of market-available applications are necessary to determine their effectiveness. In light of this, we have established the Center for Evaluation and Incubation of Digital Interventions in Mental Health, which aims to develop, test, and validate various mobile applications designed to improve the lives of individuals with mental health conditions. Applications currently under development include TRIS, to treat alcohol use disorder; Exergame VR, for adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); Motherly, for maternal mental health; COMVC, to promote awareness and care during the pandemic; and FOCUS ADHD, to treat Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. These digital solutions represent an opportunity to expand access and interventions in the field of mental health.
